“For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.“
John 3:16
This is the most widely known verse to Christians and to the world. Many times watching a sports event, I would see a fan raise a poster paper with this verse largely printed on it.
It is a popular verse.
When I share this verse with others who do not know the Lord they are somewhat annoyed and give the familiar deep sigh as if to say “Oh no I am going to be preached at!”
Recently I was teaching Sunday school and the subject of “…going into all the world and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.” came up. We talked about spreading the good news. Many thought they would never talk about their faith to others because it would be “awkward” I am not judging them. I understand.
I’ve often compared spreading the good news to “sharing the wealth” So I gave them an illustration and I share this illustration with you believer and non-believer.
Imagine living in a world where everyone was poor. They have no money. Money needed to purchase the basic needs, let alone any luxuries. Everyone lacking these basic needs and everyone around you are wanting to be fed, clothed and sheltered. All that surrounded you were folks in need. This isn’t true for you. You aren’t in need. You walk by those in need and praise God because you are not like them you have all that you need. You are not poor. Why? Obviously you have something they don’t.
Let’s say for the sake of this illustration, you have a money tree in your backyard. Whenever you are in need you can go to this much accessible tree in confidence and meet your needs. You can do this trusting it will always be there. Surely you walk in joy. You hold what the tree carries on you. It comforts you to know you will never need because it is with you.
Could a person with such access to a fortune like that pass by a hungry mother holding her hungry child without passing some of the wealth onto her so that she and her child could live? That person would be more than cruel to do so, wouldn’t they? They are being selfish, wouldn’t you say?
What if the person wants to share but feels maybe he woman would be insulted maybe she will get angry maybe she will be embarrassed. Should that person not risk perhaps being shunned, ignored, yelled at or even spat at, or should that person take that risk and more to feed her and her child?
What if this wasn’t the only person with a money tree but there are others who will not share. Eventually those who do not have will die and you will be held accountable.
I think you know where I am gong with this.
Whom shall I send ?
Who will go for me?
To the ends of the earth,
Who will rise up for the king?
Here am I.
Send me.
-Mercy Me-
We are spiritually wealthy and yet those around us are spiritually dying. We have access to the Father through Christ who died on the cross for us. We have access to His lovingkindness and His enduring mercy. We have salvation and as long as we have that we will never be in need for the Maker of the universe, has supplied the needs of our mind, body, soul and spirit. Praise God.
Now go. Be nice and share.
To those who do not have Christ in your heart and would like to accept Him as your personal Lord and saviour. He’s waiting. Just say the words. Admit you are in need of him. Believe that He is Christ, the Messiah, The Son of God and confess it, claim it!
Accept Him today. He will meet you where you are, just as you are. He loves you and wants to save you.
Be blesses
